This Pack is a mixed coloured variety pack, containing the following salad onion varieties:
Salad Onion White Lisbon. is a reliable performing white coloured salad onion. It is the variety best known by amateur growers and bulks up quickly for picking.
Salad Onion Redmate. is a dual purpose variety, bred particularly for use as a salad onion where its bright red outer skin adds colour to a salads. It has a mild flavour with crisp flesh when pulled young. However If thinned out it will produce larger, red skinned bulbs.
How are these plants supplied?
The vegetable plants are supplied as multi-sown cell grown plants that are ready to plant out into your garden or allotment. Although you may split the plug up into individual plants if you prefer, we suggest that you plant the plug as a whole as the plants will push away from each other as they grow. Can also be grown in containers.
The plants are sown in commmercial size plug trays that we then cut to give a strip of 14 plants. The tray is then packed in to one of our specially designed boxes, this way the plants roots are protected during transit.
The plant varieties are mixed in equal amounts as seeds in the seed tray, and the % of each variety that you receive will be determine by which seeds are picked up by the seeder and sown into that tray.
