Essentially, a cold frame is like a miniature greenhouse, allowing plants to be started earlier in the spring, and to survive longer than if grown outside. They are most often used for growing seedlings that are to be transplanted into open ground, but they can also be used as a permanent home to vegetables grown for late autumn harvest.
With the use of a cold frame it is possible to have vegetable crops well ahead of their normal season when they are more costly to buy in the shops.
This cold frame, comes highly recommended. Assembly is required.
